Pituitary Tumours Pituitary tumours account for ten per cent of clinically significant intracranial tumours. Currently, they are most frequently classified as ‘functioning’ or ‘nonfunctioning’, depending on whether a known hormone (for example, prolactin) is produced by the tumour.
